A little gem in Lichfield

If you are ever going to the Midlands of the Uk and need somewhere to stay, this gorgeously refurbished bed and breakfast is the only place you should venture too.

Owned by Dan and Ellie along with the occasional help from their two children, it is a family run business.

The family recently built their own home and moved out of St John’s House to create more bedrooms including a honeymoon suite….I am yet to stay in this, and event though it won’t be for the purpose of a honeymoon, my chance to stay in this suite will come regardless!

This isn’t my first stay here, and don’t get me wrong there are lots of other hotels in the area, but when you stay away due to work a lot you, often appreciate some home comforts.

Finding the hotel is very easy, located in Lichfield and only a 5 minute drive to the motorway (M6) it is very accessible.

On arriving you will be greeted with some fantastic historical features such as the pillars outside the building.

Fear not this place has great parking facilities too.

Originally I found this B&B on booking.com however I now find it much easier and more personal to book directly through the B&B.

I have a particular favourite room…Tottenham room…with its grand cast iron fire place, giant princess and the pea bed, to the egg bath in the middle of the room.

This B&B is a mixture of tradition, character, quirky and very importantly it has been very tastefully restored.

The rooms are welcoming, very clean, comfortable whilst offering a homely feel.

Complimentary freshly baked cookies, fresh milk, a selection of teas or filtered coffee, along with a wine of the month available to purchase.

Although there is no room service facility, the staff have some very reliable recommendations for the local village. I have on occasions had a takeout and brought it back to the B&B, for the staff to then bring me the usual essentials to eat it in comfort in my room.

The beds…..oh the beds! These have to be one of the comfiest I have ever stayed in. With duck feather pillows to match you are in for a great nights sleep.

If your in for a cosy night, the egg bath is just to die for! Teamed up with the complimentary toiletries called “Pure Lakes” sourced from the Lake District, it’s going to be a relaxing one!

After a spectacular nights sleep, you can head down for breakfast. The cosy breakfast room comprises of fresh flowers on each table, along with beautiful crockery.

You can choose from fruit, cereal, or go for it with a choice from the hot menu to really set you up for the day.

The grounds and the bed and breakfast are just beautiful, not to mention the hosts and the staff. Very friendly, kind and welcoming.

A place that’s a home from Home, with a quirky twist.

I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when I visit this area.

Thanks to Dan and the St John’s House team for their hospitality and always going the extra mile.

This beautiful house has a lot of history, check out St John’s House blog on their website below to read more.

Check them out, you won’t regret it!
